New Year. New Season. New Trends.
In the printing industry, we see a lot of different designs, what prints well and when are trends a no-no. We’ve decided to post the top 5 trends that’s really printing well at the moment.

Let’s start with the colour trend forecast for the summer of 2016.

Fashion is at the forefront of the colour industry and always determines the colour trends for the year throughout the whole design industry. In South Africa we are technically a season behind, in saying that, if you follow these trends, you are the trend setter for the plastic card printing industry! Your Business cards, Loyalty cards, ID Cards or Gift cards will be fresh, innovative and modern if designed right.

Rose Quartz, a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure.

Peach Echo, a shade that emanates friendlier qualities, evoking warmth and accessibility. It is an all-encompassing, tempered companion in the playful orange family.

Serenity, comforts with a calming effect, bringing a feeling of respite even in turbulent times. A transcendent blue, Serenity provides us with a naturally connected sense of space.

Snorkel Blue, a maritime-inspired blue, plays in the navy family, but with a happier, more energetic context. It is striking yet still, with lots of activity bursting from its undertones.

While the majority of the Spring/Summer palette trends toward calmness, a few diversions from the theme emerge that offer a contrast. With Buttercup designers reveal a shining beacon transporting its customer to a happier, sunnier place.

Limpet Shell is clear, clean and defined. Suggestive of clarity and freshness, its crisp and modern influences evoke a deliberate, mindful tranquility.

Lilac Gray, adds a distinctive edge to this classic gray shade. Essentially a basic, the subtlety of the lilac undertone.

Fiesta is a harbinger of excitement, encouraging free-spirited exploration to unknown but welcoming locales. Fiesta provides a stark contrast to the calming, softer nature of this season’s palette.

Iced Coffee manifests as another strong neutral for the season. With its natural earthy quality, the softness and subtlety of Iced Coffee creates a stable foundation when combined with the rest of this season’s palette.

Green Flash calls on us to explore, push the envelope and escape the mundane, radiating an openness that combines with the rest of the palette in unexpected but serendipitous ways. The popularity of this brilliant hue is representative of nature’s persistent influence even in urban environments, a trend continuing to inspire designers.

While a few of these colours aren’t ideal for Digital Printing on Plastic PVC Cards, you can pair them across the palette! They are perfect companions to pastels, and add confidence when mixed with other bold colors.

Graphic design trend #1 − Flat design

Designs that doesn’t use drop shadows or gradients, giving it an updated and clean look. If you want a clean, fresh and updated look, but don’t want to re-invent the wheel then removing all drop shadows and gradients in design maybe the first thing to look at.

graphic design trend #2 − Super-Geometric

This trend is a must for summer. It’s cool, vibrant and fun!

Incredible detail, but straight lines everywhere. If origami was graphic design technique, this would be it.

graphic design trend #3 − Patterns. Patterns and more Patterns

From polka dots to lines. From floral to camouflage. Patterns are very trendy at the moment.

graphic design trend #4 − Image-Only Design

Large Images. Retro Images. Filter Images.

High-quality images have the power to speak for themselves. Image-only designs can express more meaning than words, and helps keep the overall layout free of clutter.
